Nintendo Offers Sneak Peek of NES Classic Edition

A week after unveiling the NES Classic Edition, a miniature version of its 1980s console that plugs directly into your HDTV, Nintendo offered fans a sneak peek.

The ’80s-tastic trailer (video below) takes folks back to their childhood homes, where the Super Mario Bros. theme song filled the family room and visions of Donkey Kong danced in their heads.

But, more importantly, it briefly shows some of the 30-plus titles that come pre-loaded with the machine. Brighter and crisper, with more solid colors and well-defined pixels than the originals, these high-def games are sure to delight players new and old.

“From your first Goomba stomp to your thousandth victory in Final Fantasy, the Nintendo Entertainment System may just be the most nostalgic gaming console ever,” the YouTube video description said.

The system launches in stores Nov. 11 for $59.99, and comes with an HDMI cable, AC adapter, and one NES Classic Controller, patterned after the iconic design of the original.

Additional controllers will be sold separately for $9.99 each. (Though if you’ve got a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro collecting dust at home, try plugging that in.)

Wii owners, meanwhile, can connect the NES Classic Controller to a Wii Remote for use with Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii system.

All 30 games (including Kirby’s Adventure, Mega Man 2, Pac-Man, and The Legend of Zelda), feature multiple suspend points, so users can pick up later where they left off, no passwords needed.
